Tamil cinema’s first superstar MK Theograja Bhagwanhar was remembered at the statewide Guru Puja ceremony

The 116th birth anniversary of MK Thyograja Bhagwathar, widely considered as the first superstar of Tamil cinema, was seen today at a special Guru Puja ceremony. The Tamil Nadu government recognized the opportunity as a state incident, which shows Bhagwat’s immense contribution to both the film industry and Karnataka music.
As part of the ceremonies, District Collector Pradeep Kumar and Corporation Commissioner Sarwanan, Tiruchirappalli, paid tribute to the statue of MK Thayagaraja Bhagwan at Thiagraj Bhagwanhar Memorial located near Trichy Central Bus Stand. MK Theograja Bhagwan, often called MKT, was born in Mayiladuthurai, Tamil Nadu during the British colonial era.
The heritage of Bhagwathar, a famous actor and classical singer in Tamil cinema, is unique. He started his career as a Carnatic singer and stage artist in the late 1920s. His entry into films was marked by 1934 release PavlakkodiWhich was a commercial success. Bhagwathar acted in 14 films, out of which 10 became a box-office hit.

One of his most notable achievements was the 1944 film HaridasWhich lasted an unprecedented three years at the Broadway Theater in Madras, set a record for the longest continuous run in the same theater.
