Udit Narayan’s first marriage was in 1985 with a woman named Ranjana in Bihar. At that time, she was not a famous name, and the news of her marriage was under wraps. In search of opportunities, Udit moved to Mumbai, overtaking Ranjan.
Once in Mumbai, Udit fell in love with a Nepal singer Deepa Gahatraj, who was trying his luck in Bollywood. Both of them married and a son, Aditya Narayan, a famous playback singer and television host. It is believed that Deepa was unaware of Udit’s first marriage for a long time.
The scam in 2006 came to light when Udit visited Patna. Ranjana, along with reporters, entered her hotel room and publicly faced him. He accused Udit of threatening to commit suicide when he tried to keep her in the dark about her marriage to Deepa and to reveal the truth.
Initially, Udit denied all the allegations, called Ranjan a stranger. He said, “I don’t know this woman and never met before that. They are just trying to discredit me,” he told PTI. However, Ranjan proved his marriage and produced photos and legal documents and sought justice through the State Women’s Commission.
Despite several summons, the Udit avoided appearing before the Commission. Eventually, legal pressure forced him to accept Ranjana as his wife. In a public statement, he accepted her as his legally deprived wife and agreed to provide for his maintenance. Ranjana later clarified that she had no complaint against Deepa or Aditya, stating, “I have found what a wife should be. He has agreed to keep me with Deepa.”

After the controversy, Udit admitted, “My career was submerged after the scam. Earlier, I was innocent, but suddenly, people doubted me.”
After the scam, Udit Narayan has once again found himself in the headlines. A video of the singer kissing a female fan on the lips recently went viral, promoting a debate on social media.
In the clip, Udit Tip Tip Barsa Pani was performing when a fan approached her for a selfie. As soon as he kissed her on the cheek, he tilted his head and kissed him on the lips, which shocked many. Since then the video has triggered a social media frenzy, with fans mixed reactions.
