WhatsApp roll out new feature: How to add music to your status update. Mint

Messaging platform WhatsApp owned by Meta is rolling a new feature that will allow users to add music to their status updates. The update is being introduced gradually and is expected to be available to users worldwide in the coming weeks.

WhatsApp conditions, similar to Instagram stories and Snapchat features, enable users to share missing images and short clips after a set period. The feature is displayed on the user’s profile picture, which can be tapped to see the update.

How does WhatsApp status work with music

WhatsApp has confirmed that the new feature will provide access to a huge library of songs, allowing users to easily add music to their status updates. When creating a new position, a music note will appear on top of the icon screen. Taping it will introduce many songs that can be selected and added to the update.

Users will have the option to choose a small section of the selected track. For the photo-based position update, the music clip will run for 15 seconds, while the video-based updates will support the music clip up to 60 seconds.

WhatsApp can now be set as default messaging app on iPhones

In other news, WhatsApp users on iPhones can now set the application as their default option for messaging and call, after the latest update of 25.8.74, the latest update.

The first noted change by WABetaInfo allows the meta-owned message service to appear in the default app selection menu within the iOS settings.

Rentally, Apple introduced the ability to choose a favorite default app with a rollout of iOS 18.2. Initially, this feature was expected to be banned for users in the European Union, but it has been made available globally since then. This development marks a significant change in the traditionally closed ecosystem of the apple, which gives users more flexibility to communicate.

Once WhatsApp is set as a default for messaging and/or calling, the iPhone will automatically launch the app when users start calls or send a message, bypassing the underlying messages and phone/facetime apps of Apple. For example, tapping the message or call button within the contact app in the iPhone contact app will now direct users directly to WhatsApp instead of the default Apple application.
