Actors Vijay Devarakonda and Prakash Raj on Thursday issued an explanation after allegations against them to promote illegal betting and gambling app through their social media platforms.
In a press statement, the Dawakonda team clarified that the actor entered a contract with the company as a brand ambassador for skill-based sports and supported the company in areas and areas where online skill-based sports were legally allowed. The statement said, “It is to inform the public and all concerned parties that Vijay Devarakonda officially entered a contract with a company for a limited purpose of serving as a brand ambassador for skill-based sports officially. Their support was limited to areas and areas where online skill-based games are legally allowed.”

It continued, “It is important to clarify that skill-based games, including online games like Rummi, are repeatedly considered to be different from gambling or gaming by the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India. The court said that such sports include skills rather than opportunity, allowing them legally.”
Deverakonda team issued a press statement with the aim of abolishing any misunderstanding/misinformation about the actor’s previous support for online betting games. “Vijay Deverquond’s legal team and agencies should carefully review all associations before entering any agreement. After a completely legal review, he agreed to support the skill-based gaming platform A23, ensuring that their association had aligned with law standards. Vijay Devarkonda was legally recognized.
On the same day, Prakash Raj also released an explanation through a self-made video, which he posted on his X handle. He admitted to doing an advertisement for a gaming app, but refused to continue later as it was not right for him. Taking my X handle, he said, “I have not received anything from the police station or any summons, and when it happens, I will deploy, but I think it is my responsibility to answer for you and clarify things.”
The actor continued, “In 2016, people contacted me for a gaming app, and I did so. But within a few months, my conscience, perhaps it was legal, but I thought it was right. But I could not do anything, so I would let it go for a year’s contract. Immediately, when they wanted to renew, I said that I should not accept my discretion.”
Raj claimed that he had not advertised since then. He said, “This happened about 8-9 years ago, and since then, I have not done any advertisement that promotes online gambling. Now, in 2021-22, this company would have been sold to someone else, and when they put me on some social media on social media, we sent a notice to them. We could not tell them in an email.

The Telangana police filed the first information report (FIR) against 25 celebrities and affected, including popular figures like Prakash Raj, Vijay Dawakonda and Manchu Lakshmi, to allege illegal betting and gambling apps through their social media platforms.
An FIR was filed at Miyapur police station in Hyderabad following a complaint by 32 -year -old businessman PM Fanindra Sarma. In his complaint, Sarma claimed that during a conversation with the youth in his community on 16 March, he found that many individuals were impressed to invest their money in these gambling apps, who were heavily advertised by social media personalities.
