Pro-Kanada activist Watil Nagraj has threatened a statewide bandh on Tamil actor Kamal Haasan’s comment against Kannada.
Mr. Nagraj, who led the protest against the actor in Mysuru on Monday (June 2, 2025), said that thousands of Kannada workers were ready to go to jail, if Mr. Haasan’s new film ‘thug LifeHas been released in Karnataka.

Pointing to his alleged statement against Mr. Hassan, pointing to the protests that ‘Kannada was born from Tamil’, Mr. Nagraj said that the entire state was demanding an apology from the film actor. “If he does not apologize, we will boycott Kamal Haasan, and we will not allow him or his films to enter the boundaries of the state,” he said.
He said, “All the supporters of the state will join for the state-wide bundle and will give a call,” he said.
Mr. Haasan’s statement was stated as an ‘insult’ of Kannada, Shri Nagaraj regretted that politicians, including Mass, MPs and ministers, should be taken to the streets to e -Gaur on the alleged insults shown to Kannada.

He called for Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to call a daytime session of the State Legislature to maintain the glory, culture and sovereignty of Kannada language.
Shri Nagraj also criticized an alleged attack on an autodariver in Bengaluru, allegedly with a shoe by a woman from North India.
