AIAC 2025 in Shillong is using art to strengthen religious relations, bringing 21 artists from India and ASEAN countries together.
Arts are being used to strengthen religious relations in the ongoing third edition of ASEAN-India artists camps (AIAC) 2025 in Shillong, bringing 21 artists from India and ASEAN countries together.
Cultural organization Sehar, organized by the Ministry of External Affairs (Mea) in collaboration with the Camp, held its launch event in Delhi on Saturday (March 30, 2025), a 10 -year symbol of India’s Act.

Using art as a medium for cultural dialogue in accordance with the decisions taken at the 21st ASEAN-India Summit, AIAC is hosting Indian artists along with ASEAN member states including Singapore, Malaysia, Cambodia, Timor-Lest, Myanmar, Thailand, La PDR and Philippines.
During 10 days, artists will make original functions, participate in workshops on classical dances, music and handicrafts, and find out India’s artistic traditions in a collaborative setting.
They will also organize interactive sessions with local art students at Shillong and will conduct a special workshop at a local school, where visiting ASEAN artists will share their skills and experiences with young learners.
“The camp looks like a heartbeat that has been shared across the boundaries. A gathering where artists do not meet, but really look at each other. It is special because it is dirty and real: painted-ereed hand, late night stories, and the kind of laughter languages.
“, It is about seeing strangers as a family through art, takes their traditions and dreams in something new, something that is down in your chest after a long time,” Ser’s founder-director Sanjeev Bhargava said in a statement.
ASEAN artists participating in the camp are Chong Ae Cheer (Singapore), Abilio da Conseko Silva (Timor Laste), Panich Fupratana (Thailand), Phonith Yarnsuli (Lao PDR), Mohana Kumara Valeu (Malaysia), Loo Lim (Philip), Nave Nedia.
The list of Indian artists includes Sridula Kuntharaju, Mausumi Biswas, Japni Shyam Dhurve, Qazi Nasir, Prakash Joshi, Ayush, Vinay Kumar, Bappa painter, Chandan Bege Baraya and Rafael Varjari.
During the camp, artists will talk about various forms of painting and their shared cultural history in various styles and arts. Each artist will create a task of art, which will represent various styles – contemporary, modern, traditional, influentialist – while still the essence of its culture and history.
The works made during the camp will be unveiled for the first time in a two -day showcase in New Delhi, which will be for a week -long exhibition before making its way on the ASEAN chair for Malaysia, 2025. The camp will be closed on 7 April.
