Suresh Gopi’s name was removed from ‘L2: Empuraan’ credit after Mass Edits

In view of the ongoing dispute, producer L2: Empuran The name of Union Minister and actor Suresh Gopi has been removed after a series of voluntary deductions from the film’s “Special thanks” section. Mohanlal-Starrer, who was released on 27 March, re-edited the right-wing backlash, resulting in a total of 24 cuts for 2 minutes and 8 seconds.

The updated version of the film certified by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has changed several elements, including muting dialogues, trimming intensity sequences and revised references, which expressed displeasure. Along with Suresh Gopi’s name, the film also removed IRS officer Geothis Mohan from his acknowledgment list.

While the exact reason for the removal of Suresh Gopi is not clear, this decision coincides with extensive changes aimed at addressing political sensitivity. The most important amendment included the naming of anti -Balraj, which was originally considered a reference for Bajrang Dal leader Babur Bajrangi, Baldev. The timeline card reading “India 2002” was also converted into more vague “a few years ago.

Despite the editing, the film has seen an increase in demand, a bik-out show with theaters in Kerala. Global Box Office Collections have allegedly crossed Crore 200 crores by 31 March. The original, untute version is being screened internationally, while its OTT release is expected to include edited version.

Producer Anthony Permbavur addressed the media, saying that re -editing was not the result of political pressure. He also confirmed that the next installment of the franchise, L3: BeginningLives in the pipeline.
