Shahid Kapoor’s Dev leaked online hours after the dramatic release; Box office performance threatened – The Times of India

Shahid Kapoor’s much awaited action thriller Deva has become the latest Bollywood film that is a victim of online piracy.
After about a year, the film, which marked the actor’s return to the big screen, was allegedly leaked online with pirated sites offering high definition (HD) print within its dramatic release.
The leak is as an important challenge for the makers and the film’s box office. It comes shortly after the box office tracking sites, which reports a low advance booking for an estimated film between Rs 1-3 crore. While the film is ready to gain momentum in the weekend, the leak can only affect its overall performance, relying too much on the words of the mouth and favorable reviews. With its strong east-relief buzz, the deity is estimated to have a slow start in the box. Office, with an estimated opening day collection of Rs 5-10 crore. The sale of advance tickets is around Rs 1.7 crore, while the film is expected to be around Rs 3.5 crore, including gross collection, block booking.
Prior to Dev, Kangana Ranaut’s film was leaked online on the day of emergency emergency release. Although it is still not confirmed whether the leak has directly impressed the film’s box office collection, the box office report indicates that the film had an average run at the box office.
As far as the number of box office is concerned, Akshay Kumar starrer Sky Force is the only Bollywood release in January, which is to score big. The film, which earns more than Rs 87 crore at the box office in its first week, is now on its way to cross the Rs 100 crore mark in its second weekend.
