Actor Riya Chakraborty’s lawyer Satish Maneshinde welcomed the closure report filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Saturday (March 22, 2025) in the alleged suicide of Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput.

He said in a statement, “We are grateful to the CBI for thoroughly investigating every aspect of the case from all angles and closed the case.”

Officials said that the CBI has presented its findings before a special court in Mumbai, which will now decide whether to accept the report by the agency or to investigate further.

The central agency investigated the Bihar Police, which abolished the suicide case on a complaint filed by the actor’s father KK Singh in Patna.

In his decisive Medico-Kaniyas opinion for the CBI, AIIMS forensic experts rejected the claims of “poisoning and strangulation” in the case.

The CBI had recorded the statements of Riya Chakraborty and others in his close circle and collected medical records of the actor.

In his statement, Maneshind said that “the amount of false tale in social media and electronic media was completely uncontrolled”.

The statement said, “Due to the epidemic, everyone was pasted to television and social media in the absence of anything happening in the country. Innocent people were held in front of media and investigative officials.”

He said that “Riya Chakraborty had to go through untold sorrows and was behind bars for 27 days before being released on bail”.

The actor and his brother toilet Chakraborty, along with several other accused, were arrested by the Bureau of Drug (NCB) in drug -related investigation.

Rajput (34) was found hanging from the roof of his apartment in suburban Bandra in Mumbai on 14 June 2020.

In his complaint with the Bihar Police, Rajput’s father alleged that Ms. Chakraborty, along with her family members, misunderstood her son’s money, denied an allegation in television interview.
