Ranveer Allabia Ro: SC Podcast allows to resume, it says that it should follow ‘prevailing standards of decency and morality’

The Supreme Court on Monday (March 3, 2025) told Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, “To appear for the Center, to suggest” regulatory measures “, to curb the use of” dirty language “and” obscenity “that passes as humor in online telecast programs.

A bench headed by Justice Surya Kant said that there was a clear division between humor and deformity.

The court said that the purpose of regulatory measures was to ensure that the programs were followed by the “known moral standards” of Indian society, without slipping into the censorship of fundamental rights of free speech and expression. He served as a proper ban on freedom of speech to ensure decency and morality. The court said that it wanted a “healthy debate” on the issue with the input of stakeholders.

“Humor is an art. Humor is something that the whole family can enjoy and no one feels embarrassed. He is talent. It is not talent to use dirty language. Talent is using simple words to produce humor. We have excellent comedians in Bollywood. The author of the humor, “Justice Kant commented.

Mr. Mehta said that humor was straightforward for him. “If you can’t make me laugh, you are not a good comedian”.

He said that there were comedians who were “very important” of the government, but did not cross the limits of decency and morality. The top law official said, “They are very good people.”

The bench YouTuber Ranveer was listening to an application filed by Allahbadia, seeking amendment in a section in the 18 February order of the apex court, which provided him with interim security from arrest in criminal cases registered in Maharashtra and on his comments about parents and sex in the show ‘Bharat Got latent’.

Revise the bar

Claus under consideration stopped him from a broadcast or telecasting show, podcast etc. The court amended the bar, cautioning Shri Allahbadia that his language and conduct should meet the prevailing standards of decency and morality.

In the hearing, Mr. Mehta said that he was “curious” and he himself saw the show. “Humor is one thing. Pornography is another and deformity is at another level. Justice Kant said that the bench hopes that Mr. Allahbadia was experiencing “something repent”.

The judge said that moral standards were transformed from one country to another. The court focused on that edition after Indian society.

Mr. Mehta said that a regulatory mechanism was correctly outstanding for posting.

But Mr. Mehta said that Shri Allahbadia did not come when he was called by the Gauhati police. Mr. Chandrachud replied that the Gauhati police did not respond when Mr. Allahbiya questioned through WhatsApp through date and time for his presence at the police station.

The bench instructed the Gauhati police to tell the date and time of its presence to Youtuber.

Justice Kant said that the request to travel abroad would be considered after being involved in the investigation. Meanwhile, the court enhanced interim security by arrest for Shri Allahbadia.
