Actor Parvati Thiruvothu publicly criticized the Operations of the HEMA committee of the Government of Kerala, making a mockery of the administration delay in implementing reforms more than five years ago. After his comment, it was stated that the police plans to close the remaining cases registered based on the statements recorded in the committee’s findings.

Sharing her frustration through an Instagram story, Parvati tagged Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and wrote: “Can we now focus on the real reason for the formation of this committee? Are policies to help make rules in the industry? What is happening with it? What is happening with it? There is no crowd, this is not a crowd, after presenting the report, only five and half years since the report is presented.

The police have cited the reluctance of several complainants to take legal action as due to leaving cases. Initially 21 of the 35 cases registered by the Special Investigation Team were already closed. Reports show that the remaining 14 are also expected to withdraw in the coming weeks.

The HEMA committee was formed to investigate extensive issues in the Malayalam film industry, especially those who influenced women actors. It was formed in view of several public allegations of sexual harassment and misconduct, including the High-Profile 2017 actress attack case that gave rise to national outrage.

After submission of the report, about 40 related complaints were filed at various police stations. Of these, 30 cases have reached the charge sheet stage, with a legal investigation with prominent names like Mukesh, Manianpila Raju, Siddiq and director Ranjith. Action is going on in those cases.
