Oppo F7 first look…
We spent some time with the new Oppo F7 at the launch event held in Mumbai. Let’s find out how we liked this mid-range smartphone at first glance…
The Oppo F7 with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage is available in bright Solar Red and Moonlight Silver colour variants. Both the colour variants have a back panel. There is no glass. The rest of the body is made of plastic and the finish is good. To know if there will be scratches or not, we tried making some marks with a SIM pin. We found that if the phone is kept in a bag that has a sharp object protruding from it, then the phone can get scratched and damaged. Especially when you have not kept the phone in a cover. The phone feels light. There is a black border on the display, which makes it look different from the rest of the phone.
Talking about the screen, Oppo F7 has a 6.23 inch display with 19:9 aspect ratio. It is also Full HD Plus. Along with this, the user gets a pre-installed screen guard in the phone. Brightness levels are good and viewing angles are also not bad. However, we have to see how effective the phone’s display is in open sunlight. It does not have a notification LED, as this feature is being given in most phones. It has a cut for the front camera and earphones. Button replacement is better but we were a little disappointed to see the micro-USB port. Given the price of the phone, we could not understand why it has been given.
Oppo F7 Solar Red Variant
We got only a single camera in the back, which does not make us feel the lack of dual cameras. Despite this, the front and rear cameras of the phone support portrait mode. MediaTek Helio P60 octa core processor has been used in Oppo F7. The user will be given 64 GB storage with 4 GB RAM and 128 GB storage with 6 GB RAM. Let us tell you that the edition with more storage will be available in Solar Red color. At the same time, Diamond Black color option has been kept for 4 GB and 6 GB variants. The Diamond Black version has been enabled to give a diamond cut effect. However, this is the company’s ‘trick’, which will definitely attract many people. In terms of design, it reminds of HTC, which used 3D surface with HTC Diamond.
We got our hands on the 4GB and 6GB versions of the handset in no time. Both were fast. ColorOS 5.0 based on Android 8.1 Oreo looks good. However, we can’t say that we liked the feel and look of the app icons. Notifications can be easily viewed by swiping up with a toggle switch. Screen recording is also built in with the OS. When you are watching a video or playing a game in landscape mode, you can easily do things like screen recording and mute notifications by swiping left.
The most important aspect of the handset is the front camera, about which the company says that many AI features have been added in the new camera app. The real time HDR feature is working fine but it delays a bit after giving the command to the shutter button. The new AI Beauty 2.0 claims that it recognizes 296 facial recognition points. Along with this, the neck and shoulders also remain in its sight. Like other phones, the back camera has been equipped with more megapixels. It has a wide aperture f / 1.8, due to which the company has also included the promise of better photography in low light.
Oppo F7
We haven’t spent much time with Oppo F7 but it seems like Oppo has tried to give a better phone for Rs 1,000 less than Vivo V9. Out of the three colors, we liked silver and black the most. Oppo has patented several types of notch, so it is possible that we will see different designs in the upcoming Oppo smartphones.
We will soon review the Oppo F7 in detail. Stay tuned to Gadgets 360 Hindi. We will also tell you how much better it is than the Vivo V9?
