Openai’s CEO Sam Altman has introduced India as an important market for Artificial Intelligence (AI), which shows that the number of Indian users of Openai’s services in the last one year has been tripled. Altman, who is currently in India, discussed the Future of AI in the country, the expansion plans of Openai and the role of artificial general intelligence during a special conversation.Hindustan Times Editor-in-Chief R Sukumar.
Ultman also addressed the recent emergence of the Chinese AI model Deep Seak, which made headlines for allegedly developing at a very low cost. Rejecting such claims, Altman commented, “I had a lot of doubt on the cost number. It was so, some zero are missing. But, yes, this is a good model, and we will need to make a better model, which we will do. ,
When the expansion of Openai’s infrastructure was questioned and whether India would play a role in future projects, Altman fed up, but indicated on upcoming developments. “We have nothing to announce today, but we are difficult to work, and we hope that something exciting to share soon,” he said.
Referring to the AI initiatives of the Government of India, Altman re -considered his previous comments, arguing whether India should develop its Frontier AI model. He clarified that his comments were made in a different context when the cost of developing such models was quite high. “It was a different time when the frontier was super expensive to model. And you know, now, I think the world is in a very different pattern. I think you can do them at low cost and perhaps do incredible things, “he explained.
He praised India’s growing AI ecosystem, accepting his rapid innovation and global importance. “India is generally an incredible market for AI, also for us. This is our second largest market after America. The users here have tripled the last year. The innovation that is happening, what people are making here, it is really incredible. We are excited to do a lot here, and I think the Indian AI program is a great scheme. And India will build a great model, ”Altman said.
