Microsoft provides key improvement to notepad, adds support for new formatting, hyperlink and more mint

Microsoft is providing a very important upgrade to the notepad, allowing the Vintage Windows app to format lessons in various styles such as bold and Italic, while also adding support for hyperlink and markdown. The new update is rolled out for the notepad canary and Dev channel, although there is no confirmation yet when it will be available to stable users.

The new options will definitely go a long way to help users write in a more structured manner. However, given that most of the Windows users are accustomed to writing in plain text, Microsoft also offers the option to clean or disable all formatting by visiting the notepad settings.

In particular, the announcement about the new formatting facility comes after about a week when Microsoft revealed that this generative is bringing AI’s power to the notepad. Users can now write a new lesson using AI or improve their existing text directly within the notepad app.

With these updates, the notepad has begun to look similar to the Microsoft Word and even Google Docs, which has become a popular free option for the service of Microsoft. While the notepad experience remained unchanged for years, Microsoft now seems to be determined to overhala with new functionality in this era of generic AI.
