The Government of Karnataka announced in its budget for the year 2025-26 that the cost of the ticket of each show in all theaters in the state, including multiplex, will be capted at ₹ 200.

The state will also develop a multiplex movie theater complex under the Public Private Partnership (PPP) on 2.5 acres of land owned by the Karnataka Film Academy at Nandini Layout in Bangalore.

CM Siddaramaiah said that an OTT platform will also be set up by the state government to promote Kannada films.

In the PPP model, 150 acres of land has been transferred to the information and public relations department for the development of an international level film city in Mysuru at a cost of 500 crores.

The cinema sector will be given an industry status and the facilities provided under the industrial policy will be extended by the state government to the cinema industry.
