itel Color Pro 5G Review in Hindi: A strong contender under Rs. 10,000
itel Color Pro 5G: Price in India, Specifications
Contents
itel Color Pro 5G price in India is Rs 9,999. The phone has been launched in only 6GB RAM and 128GB storage configuration. It is available for purchase in two color variants – Lavendary Fantasy and River Blue.
itel Color Pro 5G has a 6.6-inch HD + display, which supports 90Hz refresh rate. It uses IVCO (itel Vivid Color) technology, which changes the color of its rear panel when the phone is taken to the sun. It includes a 50-megapixel main rear camera. At the same time, an 8-megapixel shooter is available in the front. Color Pro 5G has a 5000mAh battery, which supports 18W fast charging. It works on MediaTek Dimensity 6080 SoC. RAM can be expanded up to 6GB virtually. Storage can also be expanded via microSD card. It currently comes with Android 13-based UI. The phone can be unlocked with a side mounted fingerprint scanner.
itel Color Pro 5G: Design, Display
The itel Color Pro 5G has a plastic build. The back panel is textured, on which fingerprints are not visible. It uses a color changing technology, which itel calls IVCO (itel Vivid Color). This technology changes the color of the back panel to pink when exposed to sunlight or UV light. Although this is not a practical feature, but its inclusion at such a low price is a good add-on. It may not be light with a weight of 190 grams, but the work of distributing the weight equally has been done well, due to which it does not feel too heavy in the hand. Something similar is also with the texture, where it looks slim with a thickness of 8mm.
There are relatively thick bezels around the display and a large chin at the bottom, but being a budget smartphone, this was expected. The selfie camera is fitted inside a waterdrop-style notch. From the front, it looks like a budget smartphone, but from the back its design will give you the feel of a mid-range device. Plastic material has also been used in the frame, on the right of which there is a power button with volume rockers, which is equipped with a fingerprint sensor to unlock the phone. The fingerprint was accurate and fast. The placement of all the buttons is correct, I did not have to struggle much to reach them. The left side has a SIM tray, in which a microSD card can also be installed along with two SIMs. There is a Type-C port, 3.5mm headphone jack, a speaker grill with mic at the bottom of the frame. Overall, I liked the design of itel Color 5G considering its price. The phone feels thin, light as well as strong and does not give the feel of an affordable phone in the hand.
Its 6.6-inch screen size is big enough for viewing content. However, here itel should have used FHD+ resolution instead of HD+. Still, I found the display performance above average in online content streaming. At some places, I found the colors a bit faded. Here you do not get the option to change the color settings, but you can change the color temperature to cool or warm. The panel supports refresh rate up to 90Hz, due to which smooth transitions are seen in scrolling. The refresh rate settings include 60Hz, 90Hz along with an auto adjust option, which automatically changes the refresh rate to 60Hz and 90Hz according to the content running on the screen. The peak brightness level of the Color Pro 5G display has not been given, but in my test I found that it performed well indoors, but I had to struggle a bit to view content in bright sunlight.
itel Color Pro 5G: Performance
In itel Color Pro 5G, you get the powerful power of MediaTek Dimensity 6080 SoC at a budget price. The chipset is also available in some popular mid-range smartphones in the market. Built on a 6nm process, this octa-core processor handles everyday tasks with ease. App loading was fast and there was no lag in the transition even when running multiple apps simultaneously. It gets 6GB of physical RAM, which can be expanded up to 6GB virtually through memory fusion technology, after which you will have a total of 12GB of RAM. I tested the phone without virtual RAM and during my entire testing, I did not feel the need to use virtual RAM.
In my Geekbench test, Color Pro 5G scored 739 in single-core test and 2053 in multi-core test. At the same time, it scored 434365 in AnTuTu benchmark testing. This is definitely a good score for a smartphone priced at Rs 10,000. However, the scores do not reflect the gaming performance of the smartphone. Color Pro 5G is good for casual gaming, but as soon as I opened graphics intensive games like Call of Duty: Mobile and BGMI, the phone started struggling. Here the virtual RAM also did not help me much. Although both these games ran smoothly in low settings, but at times I saw heavy frame drops, which spoiled the fun of multiplayer shooting games. However, I did not have any problem playing some graphics demanding games including Asphalt. The good thing is that even after about 1 hour of continuous gaming, the phone did not heat up. Overall, the Color Pro 5G is not made for hardcore gamers, but if you are a casual gamer, it won’t disappoint you.
itel Color Pro 5G: Camera
The Infinix Color Pro 5G has a dual rear camera setup, which includes a 50-megapixel primary sensor and a second 2-megapixel sensor for depth. It also has a quad LED flash at the back. For selfies and video calling, the front includes an 8-megapixel sensor with dual LED flash.
In daylight, the main sensor captures above average quality photos. The sample photos were sharp, but there was a lack of details on the objects in the background. The good thing was that the colors were natural in the photos taken in daylight, but here too the camera’s consistency disappointed me a bit. In some lighting conditions, you may have to capture two to three shots to get a perfect picture. However, the photos were worth sharing directly on social media. At the same time, the performance of the dynamic range was a bit disappointing. In some shots, the background was overexposed, while in some the highlights were looking suppressed, but this happened only occasionally. The camera tested the edges of the subject well, due to which the bokeh looked natural in most portrait shots. The macro mode may be lacking in the setup, but here the phone gets a 50MP camera mode, which captures photos in maximum resolution. I cropped these photos and here I got good macro shots with a very slight loss in details.
The primary camera also performs above average in low light. Indoors, noise is visible in the viewfinder while taking pictures, but the noise was removed with software processing after capturing the shot. However, this sometimes washed out details from the picture. The dynamic range was not consistent in the pictures even in low light. Colours were also oversaturated in the pictures. However, with basic editing, the low-light pictures were ready to go on Instagram.
If you are not happy with the night shots on the default mode or you are clicking pictures at night in a place filled with artificial light, you can use the Night mode, which offers a good improvement in the photos by enhancing the dynamic range, details, and sharpness.
Selfies taken in daylight were good. There was a natural tone on the face and there was no lack of details. Edge detection was also accurate in portrait mode. At the same time, shots taken with artificial light at night were also above average. If there is a lack of light, then the dual LED front flash present in it compensates for it. Shots can be improved to some extent with flash. Although noise was captured in the shots at times, but most shots were good with dynamic range. Night mode was not available in selfies.
Both the front and rear camera sensors can record videos at a maximum of 2K 30fps. Videos captured with daylight and indoor light were average. There was no lack of details in the videos, but the shots were quite shaky. Jitter was also seen in the viewfinder as well as in the captured videos.
itel Color Pro 5G: Software, Battery
The itel Color Pro 5G runs on the itel OS 13 custom skin based on Android 13. On first boot, I found a lot of bloatware, most of which could be removed. Within a short time of use, I was spammed with notifications by native apps. However, disabling some apps also eliminated this issue. I was expecting this as it is a budget smartphone. If you are already an itel smartphone user, then there is nothing new in the UI for you and even if you switch from another smartphone, it will not take you much time to adapt to its UI.
The itel Color Pro 5G gets a 5000mAh battery unit. With everyday tasks including social media scrolling, calling and content streaming, the phone comfortably lasted about a day and a half. However, the competition in the budget segment manages to last around two days. In our HD video loop test, the Color Pro lasted about 17 hours and 36 minutes on a full charge, which is above average performance. It gets 18W charging support and you also get a charging brick of the same capacity in the box. With this, the phone charged from zero to 38 percent in 30 minutes, 75 percent in one hour and 100 percent in 1 hour 47 minutes.
itel Color Pro 5G: Should you buy it?
itel Color Pro 5G is a good contender in this segment at a price of Rs 9,999. In terms of design, its color chasing panel makes it stand out from the competitors. In terms of performance, it also passed all my tests. Its large display is good for watching OTT content. At the same time, the camera setup is good for daylight photography. However, the battery backup disappointed me a bit. If you like some good touches in the design out of the league or you are looking for a better option for entertainment, then itel Color Pro 5G can suit you. However, if you are looking for a better camera phone and at the same time you like to watch content without earphones, then you can also take a look at the recently launched itel S24.
