Cumin crop does not grow well in humid and heavy rains. It thrives well in moderately dry and cool climates and subtropical climates are considered ideal. As for soil, cumin cultivation requires loamy soil with good drainage along with organic matter. If you are planning commercial cultivation, choose fields that have not been cultivated with cumin for at least the last 3 to 4 years. The months from November to December are considered the best for cumin cultivation.
