Infinix Zero 30 5G First Impression in Hindi: Slim design, powerful specifications

Infinix Zero 30 5G was launched on Saturday. The smartphone falls in the sub-Rs 30,000 category. Many stalwarts have entered this segment in the last few months, including models from Realme, Motorola and OnePlus. Now, Infinix has come up with Zero 30 5G with the intention of keeping its strong presence in this segment. The smartphone comes with a very premium design, including vegan leather (glass option also available) rear panel, slim build, thin bezels and curved display. Along with the design, Infinix has included a powerful hardware set, which includes MediaTek Dimensity 8020 chipset with 14 5G bands, up to 12GB physical (up to 9GB virtually expandable) RAM, 256GB UFS 3.1 storage, IP rating, 68W charging support. The starting price of Infinix Zero 30 5G in India is Rs 23,999. I have the Rome Green colour variant of the smartphone which comes with vegan leather and after spending some time with it, here are my initial impressions of the phone.

Any device draws your attention with its design and the Infinix Zero 30 5G does the same. As I mentioned, I have the Vegan Leather variant, which comes in a color called Rome Green. Its rear panel caught my attention first, which had a large rectangular golden color camera module on the grainy textured vegan leather. This polycarbonate plate with a metal finish includes two large and one small camera ring as well as an LED flash. The dots present on the four corners of the module look like screws. It would not be wrong to say that Infinix has designed the phone very meticulously, in which small elements are working to give a good look to the phone.

The frame of Zero 30 5G is also golden in color and is made of polycarbonate, in which a metal plate has been sculpted at the top to give it a flat look. It has a curved display and the rear panel is also folded towards the frame from both sides, which not only gives the phone a good look but also makes it look quite slim. The thickness of Zero 30 is 7.9 mm.

There are thin and uniform bezels around the display. There is a speaker grille, a Type-C port and a microphone at the bottom of the frame. At the same time, a secondary speaker grille for stereo sound and a secondary microphone for noise cancellation are provided at the top. The volume rockers and power button are fitted on the right side of the frame and were easy to reach. The selfie camera is housed in a hole-punch cutout at the top center of the display. The fingerprint sensor is present inside the display, which was quite fast and accurate. Overall, I found the design of the Infinix Zero 30 5G quite attractive compared to the competition in this segment and undoubtedly the company has left no stone unturned to give it a premium look.

Infinix Zero 30 5G has a 6.78-inch FHD+ curved AMOLED display, which supports refresh rate up to 144Hz. Gorilla Glass 5 protection is available on the display and rear panel (only for glass back variant). The refresh rate can be set to 60Hz, 120Hz, 144Hz. There is also an auto adjust option, which adjusts the refresh rate according to the content running on the screen. Due to this, everything from scrolling to transition feels quite smooth. The display of Zero 30 5G is quite crisp and vivid and the colors look quite punchy.

The display supports a peak brightness of 950 nits. I also used the phone outdoors and it was quite bright. Content on the display was readable even in direct sunlight. If you still find the brightness low, there is a ‘High Brightness Mode’, which works to increase the brightness a little more in strong lighting conditions. The display supports Widevine L1 and is TUV Rheinland certified.

The Infinix Zero 30 5G comes with the MediaTek Dimensity 8020 SoC. It was introduced in April this year. This is an octa-core processor built on a 6nm process, which is a capable chipset for casual workloads as well as gaming. During a very short period of usage, I found that this phone handled social media browsing, content streaming and a few minutes of gaming very comfortably. RAM management was also good. However, in the coming days, we will put this smartphone through all our tests. The phone comes with 8GB and 12GB RAM options and both variants get 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage. RAM can also be expanded virtually up to 9GB using storage. It also includes OTG support.

The Zero 30 5G gets a triple rear camera setup, which includes a 108-megapixel Samsung ISOCELL HM6 primary sensor with optical image stabilization (OIS) and electronic image stabilization (EIS) support. Apart from this, a 13-megapixel ultra-wide lens with 120 degree FOV and a 2-megapixel depth sensor have been provided. A quad LED flash light has also been included in the setup. The company claims that the main sensor also supports 3x Lossless zoom. A 108MP camera mode has also been included in the camera app, which captures photos in full resolution. During initial use, I took some pictures with the phone in daylight and found that all the pictures were Instagram ready.

As per Infinix’s claim, one of the USPs of the Zero 30 5G is its front camera equipped with a 50-megapixel Samsung ISOCELL JN1 sensor. The camera is capable of recording videos at 4K @60fps and comes with 4 in 1 pixel binning. It also gets a dual LED flash at the front, which is hidden behind the top bezels.

The Zero 30 5G comes with a 5,000mAh battery with PD 3.0 certified 68W fast charging (charger available in the box). In initial usage, this battery easily lasted me a full day. However, you will have to wait for our review to know how well this battery performs in heavy usage as well as how much time it takes to fully charge it.

Talking about the software, the Zero 30 5G runs on Android 13-based XOS 13. On first boot, I noticed very little bloatware. There were a few preloaded apps, which could be uninstalled.

Talking about some other features, the phone comes with dual stereo speakers, DTS Sound and HiRes Audio support. It also has NFC support along with WiFi 6.

We will put the Infinix Zero 30 5G through all the necessary tests of Gadgets 360 in the coming days. Stay tuned to read the full review.
