How powerful is Honor 8C? At first glance
In the Chinese market, there are two variants of Honor 8C based on RAM and storage – 4 GB RAM / 32 GB storage and 4 GB RAM / 64 GB storage. Both variants are expected to be launched in India as well. Gadgets 360 has spent some time with the Honor 8C, which is going to be launched on November 29. How did we like this smartphone at first glance? Let’s know…
Honor 8C design and features
Honor 8C has a 6.26 inch HD+ (720×1520 pixels) display. The notch has been made quite small. The area around the notch will display the time, battery level and other status icons. The phone’s display has sufficient brightness and its viewing angles are also quite good. Due to HD+ resolution, text and images do not look too sharp. If the user wants, he can use on-screen buttons or EMUI gestures. The body of Honor 8C is made of plastic.
Due to the large length and width of the phone, you may feel uncomfortable using it with one hand. The smartphone looks sturdy but compared to other smartphones in the budget of Rs 10,000 to Rs 15,000, this handset of the Honor brand does not give a premium look. Fingerprints are easily visible on the glossy plastic back panel and due to the slipperiness, the phone may slip from the hand.
Like other Honor smartphones, color gradient has been used on the back panel of Honor 8C. Black and blue gradient is visible on the back panel of the review unit we have. The SIM tray is provided on the left side of the phone, users can insert two nano SIMs and a microSD card slot. The lock/power and volume buttons are on the right side. The loudspeaker and primary microphone are on the bottom of the phone, while the secondary microphone and 3.5 mm headphone jack are placed on the top.
The phone uses a micro-USB port instead of USB Type-C. Fingerprint sensor and face recognition work fast and accurately. For speed and multitasking, Qualcomm Snapdragon 632 chipset and 4 GB RAM with Adreno 506 GPU for graphics have been provided. Asphalt 9 and PUBG can be played easily after reducing the graphics settings. Wait for the full review for detailed information about the performance.
The dual-SIM Honor 8C runs on EMUI 8.2 based on Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box. EMUI is fast but there is a lot of bloatware in this Honor brand phone. Along with Facebook, Messenger, Netflix and Camera 360, first-party apps like HiCare, Huawei Health, Themes, Honor Store and Honor Club will be available pre-installed.
Honor 8C cameras
Now let’s talk about the camera setup. Honor 8C has a dual camera setup on the back. There is a 13 megapixel primary sensor with aperture F / 1.8. Along with this, a 2 megapixel black and white sensor with F / 2.4 aperture is provided. On the front panel, the handset has an 8 megapixel selfie camera. Its aperture is F / 2.0. Both camera setups are equipped with LED flash. AR stickers support is also present in the phone and it works properly. The 4000 mAh battery works to bring life to the phone.
The price of Honor 8C is expected to be less than Honor 8X (Review). Let us tell you that the starting price of Honor 8X in India is Rs 14,999. In the Indian market, Honor 8C will compete with Asus ZenFone Max Pro M1, Nokia 5.1 Plus (Review) and Realme 1 (Review). After the official launch of Honor 8C in India, we will give you detailed information about the design, display, software, performance, battery life and camera in a full review.
