The Redmi Note 8 has a waterdrop notch on the front panel, and in our blue colour variant, the blue colour is visible on the edges except the top part of the screen. We did not find it attractive at all. We hope the Space Black and Moonlight White colour variants look more sober.

There is a border just below the 6.3-inch screen on which you will find the Redmi logo in silver color and there is a waterdrop-notch at the top on the front panel of the phone. There is an LED light for notifications to the left of the single front camera. Xiaomi says that Corning Gorilla Glass 5 has been used on the front and back panel of the Redmi Note 8.

While the Redmi 8 has a simple and solid finish, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 has a gradient finish and diffractive pattern. We have the Neptune Blue color variant, the upper part of which appears greenish-blue and the lower part appears purple. The Redmi Note 8 has a vertical camera setup on the left side at the back but it is slightly raised.

The weight of Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 is manageable at 188 grams and the phone is 8.35 mm thick. It was also comfortable to use the phone by holding it in one hand. The back panel of the phone gets stained easily but it is not very slippery.

The phone is P2I water repellent which is a very good thing. Xiaomi has provided an IR emitter on the top of the phone, while the USB Type-C port, 3.5 mm audio jack and speaker will be found in the bottom part of the phone. The SIM tray (two nano-SIMs) and support for up to 512 GB microSD card will be found on the left side of the phone. The power and volume buttons will be found on the right side of the phone.

Xiaomi has provided a 6.39-inch full-HD+ (1080×2340 pixels) screen on the Redmi Note 8. Colours aren’t as vivid and the phone doesn’t have HDR like the Redmi Note 8 Pro but considering the price, we liked that the phone was crisp and smooth.

Let us tell you that there is a lot of bloatware in MIUI 10. Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 runs fast and we did not face any problem with the UI. Like the Vivo U10 and Realme 5, the Redmi Note 8 also uses the Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 processor. However, Xiaomi has announced that the company will not sell variants of the Redmi Note 8 with less than 4GB RAM and 64GB storage, the price of this model has been fixed at Rs 9,999.

There is also a second variant of Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 which comes with 6 GB RAM + 128 GB storage and this model will be sold for Rs 12,999. Redmi Note 8 has a 4,000 mAh battery and it supports 18 watt fast charging, let us tell you that an 18 watt charger is also available in the retail box.
