The Realme X50 Pro 5G is the company’s most premium (and most expensive) phone yet. One reason for this is that the phone includes the latest and most powerful mobile chipset Snapdragon 865. You can also see this phone as a powerful Realme X2 Pro. Compared to the X2 Pro, the X50 Pro is equipped with some great features. It includes features like 5G support, a bigger battery, faster charging, dual front cameras and new software. We have not spent enough time with the phone, yet we are sharing our initial thoughts about the Realme X50 Pro with you.
Realme hasn’t made many changes to the design of the X50 Pro. The company has introduced the X50 Pro 5G with some minor improvements. The most noticeable change is the hole-punch display included in the phone, which looks as premium as other hole-punch display phones available in the market today. This is a dual hole-punch display, like we saw in the Samsung Galaxy S10+. However, this hole-punch is given in the top left corner of the display. We found that this hole-punch does not distract you while watching videos or playing games. The display is also curved on the edges.
The phone is built very well and feels sturdy. There is Gorilla Glass 5 protection on the front and back. The 6.44-inch AMOLED panel on the Realme X50 Pro is bright and everything looks sharp due to the full-HD+ resolution. Like the Realme X2 Pro, it also supports 90Hz refresh rate.
The company has launched Realme X50 Pro 5G in two color options, which include Moss Green and Rust Red. Both the colors are not very bright. Realme says that similar colors are now popular among the youth. Matte finish is seen in the back of the phone. We liked this finish a lot and the good thing is that fingerprints are not easily visible in it. However, the back of the phone is very slippery.
The Realme X50 Pro 5G doesn’t have a headphone socket or a microSD card slot. It can accommodate two Nano-SIM cards. You get stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos audio, and the usual power and volume buttons. The camera bump at the back also doesn’t protrude much like we’ve seen on Realme phones before, but that’s because the overall thickness of the phone has been increased. The overall thickness of the Realme X50 Pro is 8.9mm, which feels quite thick in the hand, and it also weighs 205 grams, which is undoubtedly heavy.
One of the main highlights of the phone is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 processor. We are going to see this processor in many flagship Android phones this year. The main reason for this is that the chipset comes with support for 5G networks. Although users in India cannot use this feature at the moment, as 5G connectivity is not currently available in the country, but of course this makes this phone a good option for the future. Also, if you go to countries with 5G networks, you will get ample opportunity to take advantage of high-speed data there.
The top model of Realme X50 Pro 5G includes 12 GB LPDDR5 RAM and 256 GB UFS 3.0 storage, which we are testing. Talking about the price of all variants, the phone’s 6 GB RAM and 128 GB storage is available for Rs 37,999, 8 GB RAM and 128 GB storage variant is available for Rs 39,999 and 12 GB RAM and 256 GB storage variant is available for Rs 44,999.
Realme says that it has also used a vapor cooling system in the X50 Pro 5G to keep the processor cool. So far, we have not faced any heating issues with this phone. However, we have not actually tested this phone thoroughly, so we will be able to tell you more about it in our review.
In our limited usage, we did not encounter any issues with the interface or multitasking. The phone runs Realme UI, which is based on Android 10. We have also seen this UI on the Realme C3 recently. The X50 Pro 5G also comes with a powerful 65W fast charging, which is called Realme SuperDart Flash Charge. We have not yet measured the charging speed, but Realme claims that the phone’s battery gets fully charged in just 35 minutes.
The back camera setup of the phone largely matches that of Realme X2 Pro. It has a 64-megapixel main camera sensor. Apart from this, the setup also includes a 12-megapixel telephoto camera, an 8-megapixel wide-angle camera, which also works as a macro camera and a 2-megapixel monochrome depth sensor. An 8-megapixel wide-angle camera has also been provided on the front along with a 32-megapixel main camera, which includes a 105-degree field of view. So far we have used the camera very little, but after using it for a limited time, our expectations about the camera have increased.
During our limited usage, the Realme X50 Pro 5G performed exactly as the specifications suggest. While some rumours ahead of the launch suggested that the phone will be priced around Rs 50,000, Realme surprised everyone by launching it at just Rs 37,999. However, even though this is Realme’s most expensive model to date, the phone still misses out on some premium features like wireless charging or water resistance.
We will be testing the Realme X50 Pro in greater detail ahead and give you a detailed look at its performance, battery life, display, usability, etc. It will also be interesting to see how this phone compares with the iQoo 3, which is another premium flagship phone based on the Snapdragon 865 processor.
