Openai CEO Sam Altman spoke about the toll on Thursday, which the image of the viral ghibali-style has taken the resources of his company. Altman wrote in a post on X that Openai’s “GPUS is melting” and the company is launching some temporary speed limits at the native image generation feature.

“It’s super fun that people love images in chat. But our GPUs are melting. We are going temporarily going to introduce some rate limits, while we work on making it more efficient. Hopefully there will not be long! Chatgate free tier will get 3 generations soon.” Altman wrote in his post

“In addition, we are denying some generations that should be allowed; we are fixing these fast.” The CEO of Openai said.

In particular, Openai has recently rolled out its original image generation convenience out that allows users to make more fine images and edit their current images to take advantage of the image generation abilities of Chatgpt.

Since then, users on social media have been converting their images into a style of studio animation, converting their precious moments into a popular Japanese anime. This trend has gained a lot of traction on social media, with Altman replacing his profile photo on X with a Ghibali style portrait.

Openai said on Wednesday that Chagpt’s new native image generation facility was rolling for Plus, Pro, Team and Free Users on Wednesday.

In the earlier post, Altman has also confirmed that the rollout of this feature for free users has been “delayed for a while”.
