First look of OnePlus 3T
At the OnePlus 3T launch event, OnePlus India General Manager Vikas Agarwal told Gadgets 360 that the OnePlus 3 will continue to be sold, but the focus will gradually shift to the OnePlus 3T. We spent some time with the OnePlus 3T at the launch event. How did we like this phone at first glance? Let us tell you.
Talking about the design, we praised OnePlus 3 a lot. This time the company has used anodized aluminum. At the same time, the sandstone rear, which has become the company’s identity, has also been removed from OnePlus One. The good thing is that OnePlus 3T has the same design and appearance as its older variant. The new gunmetal color reminds us of HTC’s new metal body flagship. OnePlus 3T gives a feeling of strength. The 158 gram OnePlus 3T feels light. Its dimensions and weight have not been changed.
OnePlus 3T has a 5.5 inch full-HD (1080×1920 pixels) display with a pixel density of 401 ppi. The company has used an AMOLED panel which has Corning Gorilla Glass 4 protection. The display is bright. The color reproduction is also satisfactory. Viewing angles are also good. And there is no problem in viewing the mobile phone in outdoor light.
OnePlus 3T runs on OxygenOS based on Android Marshmallow. This means that you will be able to enjoy Android’s updated app permission system, Now on Tap and Doze mode features. At the event, the company said that OxygenOS has been further improved in OnePlus 3T. Due to the launch event, we could not test the user interface of OnePlus 3T in detail. We will write about it in the review of the handset.
The most important part of the OnePlus 3T is the upgraded quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor. Its two cores will give a maximum clock speed of 1.6 GHz and the other two cores will give a clock speed of 2.3 GHz. It has an integrated Adreno 530 GPU for graphics. The phone has 6 GB of RAM. Let us remind you that the OnePlus 3 handset comes with Qualcomm Snapdragon 829 chipset and Adreno 530 graphics. In the limited time spent with the OnePlus 3T, we found that it was working fast. There was no problem even during multitasking. However, it will be possible to know something in detail about the performance only during the review.
Another upgrade in the OnePlus 3T is in the front camera. The new smartphone has a 16-megapixel front camera with Samsung 3P8SP sensor. We took good selfies in adequate lighting at the event venue. Performance was good even in low light. Photos came with a lot of detail. The OnePlus 3T has a 16-megapixel front camera like the OnePlus 3. It has a Sony IMX298 sensor and 4K video recording is possible. At the event, the company claimed that the new OnePlus 3T comes with sapphire glass in the rear lens. We also took some pictures with the rear camera. Noise was less in indoor lighting. We will be able to tell more about it during the review.
OnePlus 3T has a 3400mAh battery, while the OnePlus 3 smartphone comes with a 3000mAh battery. After the increase in battery capacity, OnePlus 3T is now capable of challenging the Google Pixel XL and Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge.
Final Thoughts
OnePlus 3T handset will be available in India from December 14. Like the old OnePlus phones, it will be available on Amazon India. The 64 GB variant of OnePlus 3T is priced at Rs 29,999, while the 128 GB variant will be available for Rs 34,999.
The OnePlus 3T is the company’s most expensive phone in India and will compete with flagship handsets from other brands. Other smartphones that come with Snapdragon 821 processor in the Indian market are Asus Zenfone 3 Deluxe and Google Pixel (and Pixel XL).
What kind of response will OnePlus 3T get from the customers? Not much can be said about it right now. However, the changes that the company has made to improve it will definitely be liked by the customers.
