Fifty years of Kuchipudi flag

For some time in 1954, Vedantam Parvetaysum designed a flag for the dance form of Kuchipudi. It had a sugarcane stalk and a pink flag with a pattern of a decorated braid.
Last December, for 50 years of Kuchipudi flag, Vedantam Venkat Naga Chalpathi Rao, founder of hereditary Kuchipudi Guru and Kuchipudi Heritage Arts Society, conceptualized the Kuchipudi Natyapathak Swaranotsavulu in Kuchipudi village, where the art forms were born around. His contribution in the form of Vedantam Parvetaysum and art was paid to a rich tribute.

The program brought students, artists and academics together. In the morning Balatripurasundari Ammavaru started with prayers at Ramalingeshwar Swamy Temple, followed by a intimate Nagra Sankarton.
Kuchipudi Yakshagana veteran Passumartha Rattaiya Sarma focused on the music of Kuchipudi Yakshagan.
Kuchipudi was also a practical seminar by Bhagwatulu and other senior Kuchipudi artists.
The notable demonstrations included students of ‘Mohini Bhasmasura’ and ‘Kshra Sagra Madam’ of ‘Mohini Bhasmasura’ and Vemapati Chinna Satim’s ‘Kshra Sagra Madam’ by students of Pasumarthi Seshu Babu, Chinta Ravi Balakrishna’s students.

The festive concluding the 50 -foot stupa was unveiled and the unveiling of Kuchipudi Natyapathk.
Celebrations were also organized at the Indian Embassy, Washington DC in collaboration with Kuchipudi Kala Nilayam and Kuchipudi Heritage Arts Society.
In this, North America -based artists were launched with ‘Vande Vanni Bhavani’, showing the beauty of Kuchipudi, Kuchipudi patriotic songs, written and tuned by Vedantam Parvetamsam, followed by both Kuchipudi. Excerpts of Yakshagan and Naraturupas.
