Bengali singer-song passes on Pratul Mukhopadhyay 83

Veteran Bengali singer-songwriter Pratul Mukhopadhyay died at Kolkata Hospital after suffering from age-related diseases at the age of 83. He breathed his last on Saturday (15 February). The singer is alive by his wife.
Shri Mukhopadhyay was known for his songs on social issues and protests, which he sung mostly without any instrument. His partner, who has known him through his long journey in Bengali modern music, remembered him as a “artist with a reason”.
The singer was suffering from pancreatic diseases and was being treated at SSKM Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata, where Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee recently met her. His videos singing a famous compositions of him Ami bungalow song sung (I sing in Bengali) Ms. Banerjee was widely aired on social media inside the hospital. A dedicated medical board was formed to oversee his treatment. After his condition deteriorated, he was put into significant care, but he did not recover.
Mr. Mukhopadhyay was bid farewell to the state honor and gun salute; Hundreds of people including the Chief Minister showed it.
Arup Biswas, Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs of West Bengal, said, “The Chief Minister was taking continuous updates of his health.”
Governor Anand Bose recalled the late singer and said, “We are saddened by his death. His deep contribution to Bengali music will be echoed forever in our hearts. ,
Life and work
Shri Mukhopadhyay was born in Barisal in 1942, now in Bangladesh. The family later moved to West Bengal.
A retired schoolgirl, Manashi Bhattacharya, who shared the stage with Mr. Mukhopadhyay during his college days, recalled him and said he was “very different from an independent thinker and crowd”. He told Hindu“I knew her during the 80s when we were college students. He also joined our meetings and protests and sang his songs on social issues. ,
31 -year -old singer and research scholar Satyaki Majumdar of Jadavpur University, who is associated with many protests, remembers being inspired by Mr. Mukhopadhyay’s songs. “He was a torch worker for the continuous tradition of poetry and music made by the Indian People’s Theater Association. He sang with his meter. His unique way was ridiculed in the big health of the masculine society. For us, he left behind the treasure of deep political songs, ”he said.
Some of his famous songs were Ami bungalow song sung, Dinga Bhasao SagorAnd Amra Dhan Gaga Anthem Gaan, Ami bungalow anthemMe, – with its lines “I sing my songs in Bengali. I sing songs from Bengal. I have found myself in the familiar land of Bengal forever. I dream in Bengali. I make music in Bengali. I have gone to this far in the magical land of Bengal ” – Bengali has echoed with the feelings of the people.
The mortal remains of Shri Mukhopadhyay were taken to the state’s cultural center Rabindra Sadan, where the common people had to pay their honors to the late singer. His body will again be taken to SSKM Hospital and will be donated.
Although famous as an anti -establishment artist, he was seen sharing the stage in the events of Trinomool Congress in the later phase of his life, something that was criticized by his old colleagues.
