Amidst China uncertainty, Apple ramp produced India, collects iphones worth $ 22 billion in a year mint

According to a Bloomberg report, Apple has continued its dependence on India to move away from China, as it had collected $ 22 billion iPhone in the last 12 months. The Tim Cook -led company has increased the manufacture of iPhones in India by about 60%, and now 20% of iPhones are gathered in the country.
Prior to this report, India’s IT and Electronics Minister Ashwini Vaishnav also revealed in the first week that Apple had exported in the first week. 1.5 trillion (about $ 17.4 billion) in iPhones made in India during the financial year ending March 2025.
Where are iPhones in India?
Apple currently has three iPhone assembly plants in India, two in Tamil Nadu and one in Karnataka. One of the plants in Tamil Nadu is powered by a Foxconn, while the other two plants of Apple are operated by the Tata group.
Apple has encouraged its suppliers from China, Japan, Taiwan and other countries to establish manufacturing units in India. Top suppliers starting manufacturing in India include Sunwoda (Battery Pack), Foxlink (Cable) and AEQUS (attachment).
Apple is busy expanding its India’s supply ecosystem over the last few years. The previous report shows that the local value of Apple for various models was around 5-8%, when it started construction in India at the beginning of the Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme in 2020, but it has now increased rapidly by about 20% for various models.
In particular, the Tech veteran had assembled the Vanilla iPhone 15 variants in India, but last year it doubled on India manufacturing efforts and also started the assembly of the iPhone 16 Pro model.
Effect of Trump Tariff:
According to Bloomberg report, Apple’s iPhone shipment from India has increased from India after the announcement of “mutual” tariff by US President Donald Trump. Cupertino-based tech giants are also expected to prioritize iPhones from their Indian supply chain for their American customers.
Meanwhile, the Trump administration on Saturday announced exemption from its mutual tariff to smartphones, computers and other electronic devices. This means that iPhones made in India will no longer face additional tariffs, while iPhones made in China will get a reprise with less tariff of 20% than a total 145% tariff imposed by the US government.
